Senior AI Delivery Lead

Our client is a large-scale consultancy looking for Senior AI Delivery Leads to architect and operationalise mission-critical AI systems for government and public sector organisations. This is a hands-on role that goes well beyond proof-of-concepts; you’ll be designing and deploying production-grade GenAI and ML solutions into complex, high-stakes environments. Working Patterns and location – Hybrid, 3 days per week on site with UK wide travel as required

·        Architect scalable, secure, production-ready AI systems integrating LLMs and ML into enterprise workflows.

·        Oversee the full technical lifecycle from model architecture selection through to CI/CD and MLOps pipelines.

·        Deploy and optimise models using AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, or self-hosted GPU/CPU infrastructure.

·        Design and implement evaluation, monitoring, and observability frameworks to track AI performance in real-time.

·        Convert client requirements into detailed technical roadmaps and actionable engineering tasks.

·        Proactively identify and manage technical risks including security vulnerabilities and deployment bottlenecks.

·        Lead and mentor cross-functional teams of data scientists and engineers across delivery.

·        Communicate complex AI concepts clearly to non-technical senior stakeholders and build confidence in AI-driven transformation.

·        Extensive experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-grade AI/ML solutions end-to-end.

·        Expert-level Python skills and proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks.

·        Deep understanding of LLMs, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, vector databases, and generative architectures.

·        Strong MLOps/LLMOps knowledge including CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, and governance frameworks.

·        Hands-on experience implementing AI evaluation frameworks, security best practices, and ethical guardrails.

·        Broad cloud platform experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP with Generative AI services.

·        Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage stakeholder relationships at a senior level.

·        Ability to judge when AI is the right solution and when a simpler engineering approach is more appropriate.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

·        PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence.

·        Domain expertise applying AI in complex sectors such as healthcare, government, or security and justice.

·        Experience with self-hosted model inference tools such as vLLM, SGLang, or Ollama.

·        Proficiency with large-scale data processing technologies including Spark, Hadoop, or SQL.

·        Background in traditional ML/AI alongside Generative AI experience.

·        Open source contributions or personal projects demonstrating AI engineering excellence.
