Principal Data Engineer

Introduction

Our client are incredible passionate about providing data solutions to their clients within Defence and National Security and their enthusiasm has led to winning a number of key pieces of work that they are excited to deliver!

They are looking for a number of specialists within Data Engineering, who will be responsible for building large-scale data pipelines to transform and deliver raw data into information assets which can be used to help clients make informed decisions!

This role would suit someone with equal passion for applying data engineering to deliver cutting edge solutions to their clients!

Minimum of 1-2 days per week on site, but consultants must be happy traveling up to 4 days per week so customer sites if required.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading client engagements and being responsible for delivery
  • Gather client requirements to understand what data insights they want to achieve and what they want to use their data for
  • Build data pipelines to extract and organise raw data to deliver complex data integration problems
  • Deliver data engineering solutions using agile methodology
  • Use data integration tools, integration frameworks, and query engines
  • Work with developers to design software applications
  • Scale up solutions across different customers and teams
  • Develop logical and physical data modelling strategies
  • Leading and developing teams

 

Skills & experience
  • Experience within a data role in Defence and/or National Security
  • Ability to create structure data from unstructured sources
  • Expert in building data pipelines
  • Strong understand of software principles and coding abilities
  • ETL and ability to transform data into valuable information assets
  • Ability to create client specific data strategies
  • Knowledge of data modelling
  • Database design or management
  • Excellent customer facing experience, ideally within a consulting environment
  • Experience leading teams of Data Engineers or similar
