MESM Training Co - Ordinator

Introduction

We are looking for an MESM Training Co - Ordinator to advise our Defence client as an SME for their Naval training programmes. You must have experience at sea as a Category A or B Nuclear watchkeeper, with an electrical bias.

This role is remote with occasional travel to Reading (expensed).

Key responsibilities
  • Work with the customer and the customer’s agents and suppliers to identify technical data required for courseware and media development and also external routes to obtain the data.
  • Conduct the upkeep, update and revalidation of course technical data.
  • Work with the courseware and media content developers to contextualise training and language and ensure correct conditions and standards are applied to the training solution.
  • Work as a member of the wider team responsible for the analysis, design, maintenance, review and production of DSAT Documentation and processes for customer’s training sites and organisations.
  • Interviewing subject matter experts to collate required data, participate in internal workshops to discuss and agree findings from analysis.
  • Identify where training methods and media currently in use in the Customer may be exploited to better develop and deliver the Programme’s courseware.
Skills & experience
  • Proven at sea experience as a Cat A or Cat B Nuclear watchkeeper.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Deep submarine and nuclear engineering expertise, with proven at-sea experience as a Cat A or Cat B Nuclear Watchkeeper.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering systems into effective, operationally relevant training solutions.
  • Strong DSAT knowledge, supporting the analysis, design, and continuous improvement of defence training programmes.
  • Expertise in identifying, validating, and maintaining critical technical data to underpin high-quality courseware.
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills, working with engineers, trainers, customers, and suppliers as a trusted SME.
  • Experience collaborating with courseware and media teams to enable innovative, technically accurate learning.
  • Detail-focused and quality-driven, with strong configuration control and data assurance capability.
  • Safety-first mindset, championing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Clear, credible communicator, effective in complex, highly regulated defence environments.
