Introduction

Are you a Project Manager with experience in software delivery and looking for a new, exciting challenge?

My client is a leading prime contractor within the defence industry, and they are currently managing a wide portfolio of high-profile technology programmes. They are frontrunners for providing systems engineering, software development and complex programme management for global security, cyber, civil, and commercial markets. They are looking to grow on their advanced platforms, weapons and C4ISR capabilities that supply directly into the UK MOD and Military.

They are looking for a Project Manager to manage a small portfolio of programmes and participate in the preparation of proposals for submission to customers, pricing requirements and managing projects to cost, quality and schedule. You will also manage the risk management and mitigation activities. These projects will be centred around the delivery of software systems.

My client is open to candidates who are looking for remote and hybrid working opportunities, but occasional travel to customer sites around the South of England will be required of this role. Key responsibilities
  • Ensure key milestones are met within budget, schedule and to the customers satisfaction.
  • Coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, supply and subcontract management, progress reporting, troubleshooting and people management
  • Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost
  • Monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions
  • Manages project budgets and maintains project plans, evaluating how project plan changes impact cost and schedule
  • Responsibility for the continued development and maintenance of team procedures and processes, conforming to the requirements of the organisation and in support of BMS, ISO 9001, ISO20000, ISO27001, and continuous improvement
Skills & experience
  • Hold a relevant PM qualification (e.g. APMP or Prince2)
  • Experience in the delivery of software related projects
  • The ability to manage separate concurrent projects, with demonstrated time management experiences
  • Track record in the planning and delivery of challenging projects against tight timelines
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers, customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to implement risk and opportunity management
  • Subcontract Management experience

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Experience in both engineering lifecycle and programme management disciplines
  • New business capture experience
  • Technical background / experience
