Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java, Apache Pig or Python skills to join a high-security programme in Cheltenham. You'll be working fully on site within an agile scrum team, contributing at a senior level to complex software development. Apply Now!

Working Patterns and location – Fully on site

Key responsibilities

·        Provide technical direction and guidance to the scrum team day-to-day.

·        Liaise with the Technical Lead to align on architecture and delivery priorities.

·        Help the scrum team decompose epics and user stories effectively.

·        Write clean, secure code following a test-driven development approach.

·        Produce detailed technical designs and reusable, open-by-default code.

·        Document all work thoroughly using required standards, methods and tools.

·        Maintain and develop existing architectural components as the system evolves.

·        Participate fully in sprint ceremonies including stand-ups, planning and demos.

Skills & experience

·        Strong hands-on development experience in Java, Apache Pig or Python.

·        Experience working within agile scrum teams at a senior level.

·        Ability to write clean, secure, test-driven code to a high standard.

·        Experience producing detailed technical designs and architecture documentation.

·        Confidence decomposing epics and stories with a scrum team.

·        Ability to work with both established and emerging technologies.

·        Self-driven with the ability to work independently in a high-security environment.

 

 

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

·        Experience in big data analysis or analytics platforms.

·        Working knowledge of AWS cloud services.

·        Experience with geospatial data or geo-based tooling.

·        Familiarity with high-side data movement tooling and practices.

·        Hands-on experience with analytics tooling in a data-heavy environment.
