Principal Software Engineer

Our client is delivering Electronic Warfare systems for the military, and they are looking for an experienced Software Leader to join their team to ensure that the software produced by our client’s sub-contracted suppliers is developed and integrated to meet the overall requirements of the system.

You will be experienced working in a customer facing environment, developing processes and procedures and ensuring that standards and requirements are met.

You must have experience in Defence or a similar environment.

This is a primarily remote role with fortnightly travel to Bristol, but more may be required at busy periods.

Key responsibilities
  • Being the face of the project to the customer and suppliers and ensuring that there is effective communication between all parties.
  • Ensuring that software that is being developed meets the requirements to be integrated into the systems and sub-systems.
  • Engaging with technical experts within the customer, supplier and teams to ensure standards and requirements are met.
  • Leading Working Groups and ensuring that appropriate actions are captured and implemented.
  • Monitoring and auditing the activities undertaken by our suppliers.
  • Ensuring that all technical documentation is reviewed and approved prior to delivery.
  • Providing software expertise to support the wider multi-discipline team (including safety, human factors, ILS etc.)
Skills & experience
  • Experience working within a complex, multi-supplier environment within Defence or similar.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • Successful delivery of software programmes through collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working throughout the software delivery lifecycle with a focus on Integration, Test Evaluation and Acceptance.
  • Application and assurance of systems and software processes and standards.
  • Maritime EW domain experience is desirable but not essential.
