Our client is looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to join their senior leadership team in Tewkesbury.
You'll need to be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a solid background in financial control, ideally within a software or tech business.
This is a great opportunity to make a real impact, driving process improvement and supporting a new finance systems implementation. You will be covering a 12 month maternity leave.
Working Patterns and location – Hybrid – 2-3 days on site per week in Tewkesbury
Key responsibilities
· Own the month-end and year-end close process, delivering accurate and timely management accounts.
· Prepare board packs, investor reports and KPI/metrics reporting for senior stakeholders.
· Manage statutory accounts, audit process and tax compliance, including VAT, corporation tax and R&D credits.
· Oversee balance sheet integrity, reconciliations and cash flow forecasting and reporting.
· Handle day-to-day cash management, purchase and sales invoicing, and credit control as required.
· Ensure accurate revenue recognition is applied consistently across all revenue streams.
· Monitor the order book to ensure timely invoicing and support new finance systems implementation.
· Drive continual improvement of financial controls, policies and procedures across the business.
Skills & experience
· ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with solid post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller role.
· Proven track record as a Financial Controller, ideally within a software or technology business.
· Strong understanding of revenue recognition standards, including IFRS 15 and ASC 606 exposure.
· Experience managing a dual revenue model across multiple income streams.
· Confident communicator, comfortable presenting financial information to board and senior leadership level.
· Hands-on approach to finance, comfortable operating across both strategic and transactional tasks.
· Experience supporting or leading finance systems transitions and process improvement initiatives.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
· Experience working in the defence or government sector with an understanding of associated compliance requirements.
· Background working within a Private Equity-backed business environment.
· Proven track record of finance function improvement, including systems implementation and controls framework design.
· Full UK driving licence.
