Engineering Manager

Introduction

Our client work on Nuclear safety and are on the lookout for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead designs and ensure safety compliance. 

They are one of the UK’s largest nuclear deterrence ensuring National Security safety. 

For this role you will need a strong technical background in designing solutions and ensure they are compliant with nuclear safety standards. Ideally you will be qualified and have knowledge on Engineering Plant processes. 

Working Patterns and location – Ideally 3 days per week on site, with a 9 day working pattern.

Key responsibilities
  • Act as the main Engineering representative on nuclear projects.
  • In charge of the delivery in terms of quality, requirements and safety, leading all the engineering processes within the project.
  • Assure all Engineering requirements are adhered to safety standards, whilst liaising with the Engineering Manager.
  • Keep track of the budget and advise on recommendations to the Senior Engineering Manager.
  • Evaluate the capability of design resources for both internal and external matters.
  • Oversee and direct the delivery of facility designs, ensure effectiveness of safety, quality and to schedule in order to provide facility design solutions.
  • Maintain and promote high standards throughout environment, safety and health.
  • Produce technical specifications and briefs.
Skills & experience
  • HNC/D qualifications
  • Delivery of cross-discipline Design packages in a multi-discipline environment
  • Capable of undertaking role of Principal Designer under CDM Regulations
  • Design information configuration control for the life of a project
  • Establishment of requirements and problem definition
  • Implementation and commissioning
  • Knowledge of engineered plant and systems in at least one of the following areas:
  • Production/Process plant and equipment
  • Building Services
  • Utilities distribution and engineering
  • Experience of HAZOP process
  • Able to deliver design within a Nuclear Site Licence, specifically conditions: LC19 Construction or Installation of New Plant; LC20 Modifications to Design of Plant Under Construction and/or LC 22 Modification or Experiment on Existing Plant. Experience in working to requirements of CDM 2015
