Introduction

Our client are a large Defence company who are working on highly regulated projects.

They are looking for an Engineering Manager will provide technical leadership and coordination for the design, review, and delivery of bespoke equipment and containment systems.

Working Patterns and location – This role is based full time on site in Hampshire (some remote working options may be possible, please let us know what you require.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering design and development of bespoke equipment and containment systems up to Concept Design (SG2).
  • Produce CAD drawings, engineering calculations, and technical documentation for bespoke systems.
  • Ensure engineering designs meet programme requirements, safety standards, and technical governance.
  • Coordinate design reviews for bespoke equipment and containment systems.
  • Manage and support the design review process across relevant disciplines and work packages.
  • Ensure design reviews are conducted in line with engineering governance processes.
  • Review and approve integration documentation and technical design packages.
  • Ensure technical responses are prepared and issued within agreed review timeframes.
  • Manage the engineering aspects of the supply chain delivering bespoke equipment.
  • Engage directly with suppliers through technical meetings, design reviews, and site visits.
  • Ensure suppliers deliver equipment that meets the technical specifications and programme requirements.
  • Support programme delivery through technical reporting and progress updates.
  • Assist with integration planning and delivery of engineering work packages.
  • Provide additional support to the FMC Containment Lead as required.
Skills & experience
  • Significant experience in engineering management within complex infrastructure or defence programmes.
  • Experience managing bespoke equipment design and integration.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design processes and design review governance.
  • Experience managing technical submissions and supplier design documentation.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering coordination.
  • Experience engaging with supply chain and specialist engineering suppliers.
  • Proficiency in CAD design tools and producing technical engineering documentation.
