Engineering Manager

This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week required onsite and 2 days at home. You may occasionally be required to travel to client sites.

My client is a large defence and engineering consultancy who provide through life support to the Royal Navy and other military organisations across the globe.

They are looking for an Engineering Manager to provide support with day-to-day engineering decisions and support the delivery of engineering outcomes on a series of ongoing projects.

Ideally you’ll have a strong engineering background (either mechanical, civil or electrical) and technical leadership experience of 50+ people.

Key responsibilities
  • Support with day-to-day engineering decisions
  • Liaise with the project management and supply chain teams
  • Resource selection and interviewing with the goal of growing the engineering team
  • Aid design and safety teams with team leadership
Skills & experience
  • Team leadership experience with experience managing at least 50 people
  • Knowledge of Design and Nuclear Safety
  • Previous experience in Major projects (nuclear or non-nuclear)
  • Mechanical / Electrical / Civil experience – can have broad experience across all three or specialist in one
  • Negotiation / collaboration skills – deal with external contract partners
  • Able to set tasking / deal with queries, assess quality work of design and safety
  • Make engineering decisions based on design options and approval of designs
