Our client is a global consultancy company growing their teams within Defence and National Security. They are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join their Defence and Security technology practice, working on some of the most ambitious programmes in the sector. You'll need to already hold DV level UK Security Clearance to be considered for this role. Hybrid working 3 days on site per week with UK wide travel as required.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and implement modern, agile cloud environments for defence and security clients.
  • Guide clients through end-to-end cloud journeys from strategy to live running environments.
  • Build robust, scalable cloud platforms to support micro-services and digital solutions.
  • Deliver technical and solution architecture design, prototyping, development and testing.
  • Contribute to RFP responses and business development activities alongside cloud specialists.
  • Translate architectural information into clear technical documentation for engineering teams.
  • Assess applications for technical suitability and readiness for cloud migration.
  • Define and develop cloud strategy and operating models aligned to client business objectives.
Skills & experience
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform or OCI.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM or GCP CDM.
  • Strong knowledge of container technologies including Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Experience implementing DevOps toolchains including CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience assessing applications for cloud migration and defining technical and non-functional requirements.
  • Knowledge of security and performance considerations for digital and cloud-based systems.
  • Experience managing teams and deliverables within a consulting or client-facing environment.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Experience with Linux and Windows system management using automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with application deployment and testing toolchains such as Jenkins, SVN or GitHub.
  • Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation using Git, markup or similar technologies.
  • Previous experience working in a Defence or Security environment.
  • Experience developing business cases for cloud investment and advising on product and vendor selection.
