The client is a major UK-based professional services consultancy with a strong track record delivering complex programmes across government, defence, and the public sector. Operating globally with a large and diverse workforce, they are recognised for combining technical expertise with strategic advisory services in areas such as project delivery, analytics, systems engineering, business change, and software development. This project focuses on helping clients unlock the value of their data by designing and delivering scalable data pipelines that transform large, varied datasets into trusted, accessible information assets. Working within agile, multi-disciplinary teams, the role involves both technical delivery and stakeholder engagement to provide practical solutions that improve efficiency, support decision-making, and drive organisational outcomes.
Working Patterns: This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.
Key responsibilities
- Used a range of data engineering tools, integration frameworks, and query technologies to create clean, consistent data for reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
- Designed and built reliable data pipelines and storage solutions, working closely with developers and engineers to deliver effective outcomes.
- Introduced new ideas and practical solutions to overcome complex data engineering challenges.
- Developed scalable systems and architectures that could support multiple teams and a growing number of users.
- Created logical and physical data models, while helping to establish governance standards to improve data quality, consistency, and long-term management.
Skills & experience
- Built end-to-end data pipelines to ingest, transform, enrich, and integrate data from multiple sources into structured, usable assets.
- Worked with large-scale and varied datasets using batch, streaming, and real-time processing techniques, alongside automated ETL workflows.
- Designed and maintained scalable, high-performing data platforms, with a focus on reliability, monitoring, and optimisation.
- Applied strong data governance and security practices, including access controls, encryption, metadata management, and data quality standards.
- Collaborated with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions, using sound development practices such as version control and CI/CD.
