Our client is supporting the development of training courseware for the Royal Navy’s new class of submarine and is seeking an experienced Weapons Engineering Submariner Subject Matter Expert (SME) specialising in Tactical Weapon Systems (TWS).
This role will focus on the capture, validation and maintenance of technical data required to support DSAT-aligned courseware and media development, working closely with training, courseware and media teams as well as Royal Navy stakeholders.
This is a remote role with occasional travel to Reading.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with Courseware and Media Teams to identify technical data requirements for the development of DSAT-compliant training and media.
- Collaborate with content developers to contextualise training language and material, ensuring correct operational conditions and standards are applied.
- Operate as part of a wider team responsible for the analysis, design, maintenance, review and production of DSAT documentation and processes across training sites and organisations.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to collate required data and participate in internal workshops to agree findings from analysis activities.
- Work with the customer, their agents and suppliers to identify required technical data sources and appropriate routes to obtain that data.
- Conduct the upkeep, update and revalidation of course technical data to ensure accuracy, relevance and compliance.
Skills & experience
- Proven at-sea experience as a WESM Tactical Weapon Systems specialist, for example in a TWEO, DWEO or TWS GP Chief/Head role.
- Strong understanding of technical data requirements, data sources and methods for accessing and validating that data within a defence environment.
The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
- On Watch WEO duty.
- SCOOW duty.
- Planesman duty.
- DCHQ duties.
- Experience in training requirements capture, design or delivery.
- Exposure to DE&S / SDA environments.
