VMWare Infrastructure Engineer
Introduction
Our client is a Medium sized Cyber specialist, working on Defence and Government contracts, delivering technical engineering services and supports Infrastructure within the Defence and National Security industry with new projects, maintenance and patching.
They are looking for a technical expert who is detail-oriented, proficient with IT technologies and hardware, and who flourishes in high-pressure environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a desire to learn new tools, techniques, and solutions, as well as contribute to the success of the business!
Working Pattern: 5 days per week on site in Cheltenham town centre or local sites.
Due to increased workload in the pipeline, they are recruiting for candidates to start work up until the end 2024, earlier start dates also available.
Key responsibilities
- Working across project and support environments on secure Infrastructure
- Upgrading and improving operating environments, creating repair strategies, and providing technical support and training for users
- Designing new infrastructure and platforms
- Installing, maintaining and monitoring physical and virtual infrastructure platforms
- Responding effectively and speedily to any problems
- Maintaining a professional demeanour with clients and colleagues
- Ensuring infrastructure platforms stay safe and secure
- Updating any software and hardware where necessary
- Documenting all reported malfunctions and actions taken in response
- Automation of infrastructure components
- Providing training and support to clients and other staff
- Lead/Senior roles - you’ll be managing a team of engineers, where you’ll be responsible for their professional development
Skills & experience
- They will consider candidates with military or commercial experience and are recruiting across the levels from junior to lead
- A background in system design, management or support
- Project experience desirable
- Come from a system management/support background
- Networking (Cisco, Juniper, HP, Dell)
- Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Storage appliances (Dell, Synology)
- System automation and scripting (Ansible, Python, PowerShell)
- System administration (Microsoft, Linux)
- Knowledge of system performance monitoring, reporting and dashboard generation
