Transformation Senior Manager - Public Sector

Our client is a large consultancy in the UK and are particularly successful working on MoD, Government and Public Sector contracts within Project and Technical Management, Analytics, Systems Engineering, Business Change and Software Engineering.

Key responsibilities
  • Take the lead in partnering with clients to solve complex issues through leading teams to design, shape and deliver major cross-functional transformation projects and programmes
  • Work with a range of senior stakeholders both internally within the company and in client organisations, at all levels including the C-suite, as a subject matter expert on programme leadership
  • Apply a combination of consulting experience, industry knowledge, tools and technology to anticipate and address major portfolio, programme, project and change management challenges with client and colleague teams
  • Lead teams of significant scale from across different parts of the company, clients and other partners to deliver complex client programmes and critical outcomes
  • Lead business development by building out new and existing relationships, contributing to new business proposals, completing sales with the client, and taking lead roles in industry and account teams
  • Contribute to internal practice development by participating in proposition, methodology and point of view development activities and supporting knowledge capture and sharing
  • Demonstrate excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills across all levels of client and company stakeholders
Skills & experience
  • Strong experience in leadership roles across large-scale transformation programmes and portfolios, including:
  • Programme strategy; definition and planning, delivery strategy, business case development
  • Portfolio design; alignment of programmes with business strategy; frameworks to shape and manage delivery through the cycle
  • Programme set-up; delivery/operating model design, commercial model structure, definition and mapping of programme outcomes
  • Programme delivery; project and programme management, programme controls/assurance, risk management, and operational readiness
  • Programme recovery; executive level engagement, recovery planning, and experience reshaping programmes
  • Extensive industry knowledge and trends, and deep expertise in programme leadership, bringing lessons learnt and insights to clients
  • Highly mature and experienced stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Commercial and risk awareness, either in a professional service environment or as a customer of a professional services partner
  • Leadership of large-scale organisation transformation programmes, using agile, waterfall or hybrid approaches methodologies and ideally a “digital product and technology enabled” focus
  • Mentoring, coaching or managing others in project teams and in other parts of the business in addition to an ability to work collaboratively and to be a team player.
  • Experience of developing business, structuring work and leading teams to successful outcomes, even in highly ambiguous situations.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Preferred but not required insight / experience across one or more of the following:
    • Platform transformation (e.g. HR, Finance, Wealth)
    • Cloud-enabled transformation, e.g. S4HANA, SAP successfactors
    • Operating model transformation
    • Strategic cost reduction
    • Regulatory-driven change
    • Financial crime
    • Business / function and enterprise-level portfolio management
    • Net zero / ESG transformation.
