Training Design Consultant (Defence/DSAT)

Introduction

Our client is seeking an experienced Training Design & Courseware Specialist to support the delivery of blended learning solutions for the UK Ministry of Defence. This role is ideal for a defence-experienced learning professional with strong DSAT knowledge and hands-on courseware design expertise.

 

You will take ownership of assigned training courses, ensuring they remain DSAT-compliant, current and effective, and will work closely with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to support ongoing training transformation activity.

 

Working Patterns and location – Approx. 3 days per week on site

Key responsibilities
  • Take accountability for all assigned training courses in support of MOD training transformation.
  • Ensure all training design activity follows the end-to-end training design process.
  • Develop, maintain and assure DSAT-compliant courseware and documentation.
  • Manage training courseware through analysis, design, maintenance, review and production phases.
  • Update training design materials in line with feedback, assurance activity and recommendations.
  • Conduct structured interviews with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to capture training requirements and data.
  • Participate in internal workshops and stakeholder sessions to review findings and agree design outputs.
  • Maintain training design in response to new or amended training requirements, ensuring courses remain current and aligned to operational needs.
  • Identify opportunities for accreditation for new or amended training solutions.
Skills & experience
  • Previous experience in a Learning & Development or Training Design role within Defence.
  • Strong courseware and/or instructional design experience.
  • DSAT experience is essential, including production and maintenance of DSAT documentation.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies.
  • Confident engaging with SMEs and stakeholders to gather and validate training requirements.
