Technical Project Manager

Introduction

Our client requires a technical detail-oriented project manager to oversee all elements within the project lifecycle to sustain existing solutions and deliver business change.

The role will be producing inputs into MOD business cases and covering project operations from inception to execution. The project manager is responsible for scheduling and tracking milestones, reporting, financial management and working with a wide and diverse project team covering business change, approvals, commercial and project management office.

Due to the wide and varied stakeholder team management this role requires the Project Manager to be able to robustly but collaboratively multitask successfully under pressure, tracking to benefits, plan and scope.

The role is based in Corsham on a flexible 2 day per week basis in the office and 3 days’ work from home, with regular travel to other MOD sites.

Key responsibilities
  • Create project plans with relevant team members from project mandates and direction from the programme and capability workstream.
  • Work closely with the capability workstream lead, programme executive, technical authority, MOD and User
  • Work collaboratively with all team members and ensure that deadlines are communicated and managed.
  • Maintain the project budget forecasts and report monthly.
  • Maintain the full RAIDO inputs and manage these regularly including dependency reviews.
  • Prepare progress reports, weekly status review and monthly executive for programme managers reviews.
  • Identify the resources (people and equipment) needed for the project.
  • Manage supplier deliveries and work with the commercial team
  • Support the well-being of all team-members and highlighting any concerns.
Skills & experience
  • Necessary security clearance/clearable to carry out the role.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical project management with an appropriate qualification, in a mix of traditional and agile delivery models.
  • Experience in business change and MoD Approvals (5 case business model)
  • Excellent leadership abilities and understanding of all stakeholder objectives and concerns
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work and problem-solve under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and patience
