Our client is currently recruiting for people to work in the Defence and Aerospace domains. Our client offers a range of independent and unbiased advice in engineering, technical and strategic advisory services to a wide breadth of markets and clients.

Our client offers ‘through-life’ support to the MoD and equipment manufacturers, and because they don’t manufacture anything theirselves, their clients can rely on them to offer independent and unbiased recommendations. The industry looks to them for advice on the latest issues and, with duty of care always high on the MoD’s agenda, which is driving this increasing demand.

Key responsibilities

Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to work within complex systems from digital, communications, sensors, platforms to software and advanced technology integration.

  • Liaise with customers to complete requirements capture
  • Create and deliver strategies to meet the customers engineering goals within time, cost and quality expectations
  • Perform quality assurance throughout the project life cycle to ensure corporate and client satisfaction
  • All levels of stakeholder management, from engineers to senior management
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams throughout the systems development life cycle following the V-Model
  • Accountability for all engineering documentation including: Management files, requirement strategies, acceptance plans and architectural definitions
  • Work alongside SME’s throughout the project, to negate potential risks and have continuous solution options available
  • Conduct technical analysis throughout the product life cycle to make recommendations
  • Contribute to the wider department and identify new potential opportunities
  • Lead design reviews
Skills & experience
  • Degree in a engineering field such as: mathematics, science, software or equivalent depth of experience in an engineering field
  • Chartered Engineer or a part of a known institution: CEng, CSEP
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes (e.g. ISO15288:2015) across the lifecycle
  • Modelling languages and architecture frameworks: UML, Archimate, TOGAF, MODAF
  • Project management or team management
  • Understanding of engineering within the MOD’s procurement framework, Knowledge In Defence (KID).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to build trusted relationships.
  • Ability to understand, simplify and explain subject matter to non-engineers and senior stakeholders.
