Introduction

Our client is currently recruiting for people to work in the Defence and Aerospace domains. Our client offers a range of independent and unbiased advice in engineering, technical and strategic advisory services to a wide breadth of markets and clients.

Our client offers ‘through-life’ support to the MoD and equipment manufacturers, and because they don’t manufacture anything theirselves, their clients can rely on them to offer independent and unbiased recommendations. The industry looks to them for advice on the latest issues and, with duty of care always high on the MoD’s agenda, which is driving this increasing demand.

The Role:

This role in particular will have the senior systems engineer leading teams on a variety of projects, from consultancy projects to high profile programmes within the defence sector

Key responsibilities
  • Delivering projects within time, cost and quality constraints as part of an engineering service to a client.
  • Draft and implement strategies to achieve project and client milestones.
  • Provide consultancy to client project and engineering managers.
  • Fulfil a senior role within the delivery team.
  • Lead multi-party and multidisciplinary teams to execute engineering plans.
  • Development of engineering documentation, e.g. Management Plans, Requirement Strategies, Acceptance Plans, Architectural Definitions.
  • Liaise with Subject Matter Experts to capture requirements, risks or solution options to fulfil the client’s needs.
  • Shape potential future solutions but engaging with industry and industry leaders.
  • Deliver analysis reports to identify key risks and shortfalls.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews.
  • Ensure that quality assurance is to a high quality to satisfy both corporate and clients.
  • Achieve client acceptance across a range of engineering deliverables.

 

Skills & experience
  • Professionally recognised with an appropriate institution e.g. CEng, CSEP.
  • Experience of working in an array of complex systems from digital, communications, sensors, platforms to software and advanced technology integration.
  • Applying systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle. (e.g. ISO15288:2015)
  • Knowledge of modelling languages and architecture frameworks. (e.g. UML, Archimate, TOGAF, MODAF.)
  • Managing projects and teams across a variety of development methods.
  • Understanding of how to apply different engineering tools and techniques to capture requirements and develop solution designs, e.g. Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Understanding of engineering within an MOD’s environment – Knowledge In Defence (KID).
  • Ability to understand, simplify and explain subject matter to non-engineers and senior stakeholders.
