The SQL Developer role is for a world leading telecommunications company providing the highest level of services worldwide. As a SQL Developer you will be designing new database structures, developing ETL (Extract, transform and load) packages, carrying out data migration, data configuration and performance tuning on SQL servers and databases.

  • This role will be responsible for all validations activity to support commission schemes and miss-selling management across all channels.
  • The reporting analysts support the validations team to act as a key function in the delivery of operational sales compliance reporting and insight to help drive critical business decisions, thus strengthening the control environment across a variety of our clients’ systems to promote ethical and honest behaviour.
  • This role is responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting the Microsoft SQL Server solutions which drive business processes. This includes designing new database structures, developing ETL packages, data migration, initial database configuration and performance tuning of production databases.
Key responsibilities
  • Redevelop all current validation processes from design to build within SQL Server. Then continuously maintain the Validation processes.
  • Validation of >£30m net Sales Value, controlling miss-selling adherence to set targets for all Direct Sales channels.
  • Maintain and Develop a high class ‘Validation Reporting Suite’ to highlight non-compliance to include undesirable or potential dishonesty that negatively impacts on both the customer and our clients' revenues
  • Identify both existing and potential issues and put forward solution methods to strengthen existing controls.
  • Develop reporting on an Ad-hoc basis to provide adequate monitoring of promotional activity and any associated risk. This can require rapid turnaround times.
Skills & experience
  • Systems Experience: 2yrs working in an analytical team with data warehousing environment's e.g. Netezza, Oracle, Qlik, GCP.
  • Data Mining Tools: Specifically qualified in SQL Server Development, Oracle, Business Objects, with detailed knowledge of sourcing DWH and SQL experience.
  • SQL Developer experience: Maintain & develop stored procedures and database elements for ETL data management and analysis. Experience of owning a development lifecycle end to end, including design, development, testing, and deployment to production.
  • Story-telling with data: strong skills in building reporting and presentations drawing on data and analytical techniques using Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Qlik sense.
  • Data Quality and Monitoring: Experience in data quality monitoring and improvement techniques. Ability to translate data into end user friendly format.
  • Business acumen: Analytical approach with good communication and report writing skills. Good people skills and use of stakeholder management to develop relationships with other areas of the business.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Advanced knowledge in EXCEL with very strong VBA skills.

  • Ability to translate data into end user friendly formats.
  • Experience in data quality monitoring and improvement techniques.
