Introduction

Our client is looking for a Lead Construction Manager to lead a multi-discipline team and coordinate with other functions to safely execute site installation works at a Nuclear site.

As a Site Manager, you'll oversee the site management, co-ordinating the site construction activities including liaising with and briefing the sub-contractors.

You will need Nuclear/Defence experience for this role.

Working Patterns and location – This role requires 4 days per week on site.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversee site management of a Nuclear site.
  • Ensure the requirements of conventional Health and Safety Legislation are met by compliance with Project procedures.
  • Ensure a plan of key activities and milestones are met.
  • Support the Project Manager / Package Manager in development, monitoring of progress.
  • Ensure that effective cost control and monitoring is implemented.
  • Provide regular reports on progress, for inclusion in the daily diaries and the project monthly report.
  • Ensure that the work package construction proceeds in accordance with the Project programme whilst meeting the requirements of the Project quality goals and safety case requirements.
  • Identify and manage specifically those areas that represent significant risk to the work package through proactive interface management.
  • Liaise with the required stakeholders to ensure all requirements are communicated and agreed.
  • Liaise with sub-contractor and Babcock Document Control sections regarding the issue and receipt of drawings and documents.
  • Establish and maintain a tracking register of all documents and drawings and revisions on CDMS.
  • Receive and issue preliminary drawings, documents and schedules to ensure that the sub-contractor/partners have up to date information for planning and construction purposes.
Skills & experience
  • Experience in a Site Manager within a Nuclear or Defence environment.
  • Risk Assessor Training.
  • Health and Safety Management of Sub-contractors Training.
  • A1 Assessor.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and integrate into multi-disciplinary teams or work independently.
  • Site Construction experience.
  • Apply risk assessment and management principles and processes.
  • Network effectively, negotiate well and influence people, broker relationships with stakeholders within and outside the project.
  • Have excellent awareness of CDM, construction and health and safety legislation. Communicates effectively with stakeholders including facility personnel, vendors and sub-contractors.
