Senior Test Engineer

Our client is looking for a Senior Test Engineer with strong technical testing expertise to join their growing team in the Defence industry. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on testing experience with solid technical understanding across modern tools, environments, and automation frameworks.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of diverse software products — from desktop and web-based systems to mobile and hardware-integrated solutions.

Experience in both automation and manual testing is required for this role.

Working Patterns: Approximately 2 days per week in the office, more at busy times. The rest can be done remotely.

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases across multiple products and platforms for the Defence industry.
• Conduct API testing.
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks using Cypress, Selenium, or Robot Framework.
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Test across AWS-hosted systems and services.
• Validate WPF C# desktop applications and TCP/IP network-based applications.
• Execute functional and regression testing on web and mobile platforms.
• Conduct performance and load testing.
• Test 3rd-party hardware and both COTS and bespoke integrated systems.
• Create and maintain PowerShell scripts and use Linux command-line tools when required.
• Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution.

• Proven experience of both manual and automated testing of complex software systems.
• Knowledge of automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium, Robot or similar).
• Experience with API testing.
• Hands-on experience with web and/or mobile testing.
• Familiarity with containerised environments (Docker).
• Exposure to AWS cloud environments is desirable.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and Linux commands would be a benefit.
• Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP) and hardware integration testing.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test automation integration.
