Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Introduction
Our client is an SME who specialise in developing secure digital solutions for Defence and National Security and are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join them on their growth journey!
They offer excellent development and training opportunities whilst working in an enthusiastic and passionate team.
They are looking for candidates with experience across IaC, MVP, Cloud services and scripting languages.
This role is based predominantly onsite, with the possible need to occasionally travel between Cheltenham and Hereford.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy new solutions in challenging environments and enhancing existing platforms for Defence and National Security customers.
- Work with the MVP approach, building incrementally and allowing customers to input on the journey.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and drive initiatives to enhance coverage and performance.
- Develop and maintain automated dashboards, reports, and analysis tools.
- Work closely cross functional teams to develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Use tools such as Terraform, Azure DevOps, Ansible and Gitlab.
- Produce scripts using Go, Bash or Python.
- Conduct capacity planning to anticipate future growth and ensure systems can scale accordingly.
- Implement and enforce security best practices in system design and operation.
Skills & experience
- Experience in a similar SRE/DevOps/Software and Operations role within Defence and/or National Security.
- Very customer centric, wanting to work with them to solve their problems.
- You love finding new ways to solve problems.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab, Azure DevOps or similar.
- Some cloud experience (Azure or AWS)
- Scripting experience, ideally Go, Bash or Python.
