Introduction

Our client providing engineering and design expertise for a variety of aircraft moderation projects for military contracts and they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to create designs and manage teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a role that provides variety and responsibility!

You will be working as the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) and the check signatory on mechanical and structural design, so demonstrable experience in these positions or evidence that you are working towards it, is essential.

This role is 3 days per week on site, and 2 days remotely. (Flexibility is needed for meetings etc.)

Key responsibilities
  • Management and leadership of the mechanical design engineering team.
  • Working in teams to create design concepts, manufacture part, assembly and installation drawings.
  • Ensure all designs and modifications customer and aerospace regulatory requirements and certifications such as CS-27, CS-29 etc.
  • Support the development and growth of the mechanical design engineering team.
  • Be accountable for the checking and compliance verification of design data.
  • Be the focal point for the production and installation engineers in mechanical/structural design matters.
  • Act as the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) and the check signatory.
Skills & experience
  • Previous experience working within an Aerospace Design Office as a Structures or Mechanical drawing (Panel 3) check signatory.
  • Be previously approved as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) or be able to evidence significant progress towards this.
  • Proven record of creating conceptual structures / mechanical designs.
  • Ability to select, appropriate mechanical/structural techniques and solutions for aerospace applications.
  • Experience leading people and/or projects in a complex engineering environment
  • Experience of the full design life cycle from conception to delivery of design packages.
  • Understanding of ergonomics and associated design principles.
  • Proficient user of Solid Works CAD is desirable.
