Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Introduction
This is a hybrid role with 3 days on site per week. Candidates must be willing to travel to Surrey for the first couple of months regardless of where they are based to get face time in with the team they will be working closely with.
Our client is a leading engineering and defence company who specialise in research and technology and are looking for someone to join their expanding Corporate Services IT department.
They are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and develop aspects of an enterprise IT environment including technical design, implementation, and support.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting mission critical work for over 1000 end-users.
- Maintaining and developing specific aspects of an enterprise IT environment.
- Working across technical design, implementation, and support.
- Ensuring IT is effective and reliable.
- Cloud platform management.
- Mobile device management.
- Providing support to on-prem systems and isolated networks.
Skills & experience
- Technical lead level experience with technologies such as Microsoft, Amazon (AWS), VMWare, RedHat or similar.
- Experience designing, supporting, and maintaining internal IT environments.
- SME level experience or above.
- Awareness of Defence or National Security IT standards.
- Understanding of Solution or Enterprise Architecture methods.
- Knowledge of one or more key technology:
- Corporate Microsoft Estate
- Cloud platforms – AWS, Azure etc.
- Identity and Directory services
- Cyber security and information assurance
- Mobile device management
- DevSecOps and Site Reliability Engineering – GitLab, Jenkins or SonarQube etc.
