Senior Cost Controller
Introduction
Our client is looking for Cost Controls Consultants with cost control, tracking, budgeting, and reporting experience to support their high-profile defence clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across high-profile and challenging projects with a world-leading consultancy.
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with project teams as part of a cost control team or independently with support from senior cost professionals.
- Customise cost control methods to fit client needs and follow best practices.
- Advocate for cost control processes within the project team.
- Implement and manage cost control systems to track budgets, spending, and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and align budgets with the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Link cost estimates to the WBS to set accurate project budgets.
- Build relationships with Finance, Commercial, and Project Managers to ensure project information is aligned.
- Lead accruals production to ensure accurate cost data.
- Provide cost reports and analysis, including earned value management data.
- Offer cost advice to support project progress tracking and performance decisions.
- Train clients and junior team members on cost control processes.
Skills & experience
- Demonstrable Experience in Cost Control is essential.
- Familiarity of different cost performance reporting and cost forecasting techniques.
- Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities as part of project performance cadence.
- A detailed understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting and performance reporting and analysis.
- Practical experience of using MS Excel and other MS applications.
- Familiarity with at least one Cost Control tool is desirable.
- An understanding of how other aspects of Project Controls (Scheduling, Risk Management, Reporting, Change Control) interact with Cost Control is desirable.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts is desirable.
- The ability to travel to client sites across the region as required.
