Senior Commercial Consultant

Introduction

Our client is supporting an Industrial Client and therefore is looking for an experienced Commercial Lead with at least 10 years’ experience in Commercial roles, with 5 years in a Senior role.

You will need experience in Industrial, Chemical or Oil & Gas sector, and have a strong commercial background.

You must have experience of major EPC or EPCM contracts and ideally have knowledge of ICHEME contracts.

The site is 15 miles West of Chester. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week on site. Occasional travel outside of the Northwest which will be expensed.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist client with front-end development process (FEL gate knowledge preferred).
  • Analyse EPCM contractors' cost, commercial, and contract submissions.
  • Compare costs to internal/external benchmarks
  • Challenge client and contractor costs, providing justification.
  • Review cost elements (e.g. personnel, contractor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors)
  • Provide cost and commercial input for change management.
  • Review contractor submissions and offer advice to the client.
  • Ensure compliance with change management processes.
  • Lead cost reviews and meetings with contractors on behalf of the client.
  • Provide cost input to the project team and finance.

 

Skills & experience
  • Sector knowledge: Power and Chemical.
  • Discipline knowledge: Civil, Mechanical, pipework, electrical, instrumentation, access, insulation, painting within Industrial sector (power, chemical, oil, gas, etc).
  • Experience 10 years plus including >5 years in a senior commercial role on major capital projects (several hundred million to over billion pounds).
  • Must have experience of major EPC or EPCM contracts either client or contractor.
  • Ideally have working knowledge of the ICHEME form of contract.
  • Strong commercial background ideally client side.
  • Knowledge of pre- and post-contract processes, including IChemE contracts.
