Introduction

Are you looking for your next contract role?

Our client is one of the largest providers of engineering and technical services to the UK defence market! They are looking for a Safety Critical Software Engineer to fill a 6-month inside IR35 contract. You will need to be onsite with the customer 1 – 2 days per week in Bristol, the rest of the work can be done remotely.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and verifying safety critical software. You will ensure safety critical software systems and programmes are able to overcome technical challenges, meet engineering standards and comply to regulatory requirements.

You will work as part of our clients Safety Critical Software team; a growing dynamic team filled with  experience and expertise. The team is currently delivering on several high-profile and exciting projects across multiple safety critical industry sectors.

Key responsibilities
  • You will specialise in verification and testing of software and programmable hardware used in safety-critical digital systems.
  • You will ensure safety critical software systems and programmes are able to overcome technical challenges, meet engineering standards and comply to regulatory requirements.
  • You will work with the technical assurance team to ensure the quality of work they deliver meets high professional standards.
Skills & experience
  • Experience of developing and / or assuring Software, Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) and Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) Systems.
  • Experience of static and formal software static analysis techniques and tools (such as MALPAS, SPARK, Polyspace, etc.).
  • Experience in development and verification of real-time, embedded control systems.
  • Experience with software-based and digital systems in safety or mission critical industries.
  • Experience of programming languages such as C, Ada and Assembler.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Experience of applying standards used in safety or mission-critical industries such as IECs 61508, 60880, 50128, 62061, 61513 or 61226; ARP4754; DEF-STANs 00-55 or 00-56; or DO-178C.

Please note that the client has determined that the off-payroll working rules will apply to this assignment and therefore this contract will be run through an Umbrella Company. Income tax and primary national insurance contributions will be deducted at source from any payments made to the intermediary.
