Primary Design Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to become an expert within the field of HV Plant and Substation designing. Pioneering in leading juniors and working towards success!
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office or on client site per week.
Key responsibilities
- Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream for Transmission and Distribution clients.
- Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids.
- Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work.
- Act as TP141/Assurance Engineer where required.
- Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment.
- Coordination with engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
- Manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
- Attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages.
- Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
- Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
- Identify customer needs and develop business relationships.
Skills & experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Chartered Engineer through the IET.
- Strong understanding and leadership of the engineering projects through asset lifecycles.
- Track record of leading teams in the delivery of FEED or detailed design of EHV (132kV upwards) substation projects.
- TP141 or equivalent authorised or ability to do so.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
- Experience in a leadership/management position in a similar environment, including coaching/mentoring junior engineers.
