Introduction

Our client has an exciting opportunity for an internal Project/Operational Manager to join them within their Defence and Cyber Business, to work between resourcing and the business to indicate to the resourcing team when the business has more demand for resourcing.

They already have multiple programmes with the MOD and wider defence industry, the business has set ambitious growth targets for the next 5 years. To achieve these goals they need to manage their resource demand pipeline and existing workforce more effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a large Defence organisational to ensure efficiency and communication in order to resource and ensure supplier demand is met. This is a new role and it is likely that the client will set up a new unit to manage these roles – what a time to get involved!

You can be based on any of the sites but they will be expected to travel to other offices as required.

Key responsibilities
  • Developing a new method to convert our client’s current pipelines into demand forecasts - this should capture the medium and long-term demand signals such that our client can better support the business to develop new / tailored capabilities to meet our requirements.
  • Use all demand data to inform market engagement and win work activities.
  • Support the accounts supply chain management activities, building a view of the role that potential partners could take to meet our demand signal (increased use of supply chain is a key part of our strategy).
  • Skills migration across different projects.
  • Identifying opportunities to on-board new talent into mature programmes.
  • Work in support of the accounts to improve their method of short-term demand management.
  • Maintain relationships across divisions to support our colleagues in developing resourcing solutions to meet our demand.
  • Work with bid teams to ensure mobilisation is organised to ensure smooth transition to project management team from bid team.
  • Understand the strategic account direction and work with Practices in strategic planning of recruitment, reskilling, succession planning and other activities to be ready for the long-term position of the account.
Skills & experience
  • Experienced in managing complex pipeline and resource demand signals.
  • Skilled in data manipulation and use of simple dashboarding to engage and support multiple audiences.
  • Experience in defence, civil nuclear and engineering is preferable
