Nuclear Safety Engineer

Introduction

Our client are looking for an experienced Nuclear Safety Engineer to support their consultancy work within a Defence Nuclear environment.

This role is mostly based remotely with infrequent travel to Plymouth.

Key responsibilities
  • Produce safety assurance deliverables during design, construction, operation and decommissioning.
  • Support our client in managing nuclear safety and ensuring compliance with the Site Licence Conditions. 
  • Produce safety cases (e.g. SJP, PCSR, PCmSR, PRS).
  • Hazard/Fault identification studies: HAZOP, FMEA.
  • Qualitive and Quantitative Hazard Assessments.
  • Radiological and probabilistic safety assessments.
  • Produce Safety reports.
  • Support Engineering Substantiation.
  • Report producing for technical nuclear technology.
  • Manage and lead on safety assurance activities.
  • Produce documentation including: Modification/ Design Change Submissions (LC/AC 22), Decommissioning, Functional Safety Assessment, Regulatory Interface/ Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
Skills & experience
  • Experience in a Nuclear Safety role and producing safety cases.
  • Safety case production and hazard analysis with Nuclear or Defence industry.
  • Have worked across all stages from design through to decommissioning.
