Introduction

The successful candidate will be ‘Solutions’ focused and work with clients and technical teams, to develop technical solutions to complex problems. Experience within Digital transformation would be beneficial.

Our client is a leading consultancy within Defence, Aerospace and Critical National Infrastructure!

This role will be embedded within the client and therefore you must have excellent customer facing experience.

As a Network Architect, you will be responsible for the design, description and managing the development of network solutions to support our client’s business strategies.

My client is happy to train candidates in skills that they are deficient in, but need the enthusiasm and appetite to learn.

You will be expected to work on client sites as required, but the rest of the time you would be able to work remotely.

Key responsibilities
  • Producing network designs to meet business needs and following current standards
  • Maintaining network standards to ensure they continue to meet best practice guidelines
  • Keeping up to date on networking trends and developments and identifying how they could benefit the company
  • Analysing network products and technologies and making recommendations to influence technical direction
  • Is result oriented and has a high degree of accountability, commitment and responsibility. The expectation is that involving an architect in a project is a guarantee of obtaining positive outcomes
  • Working with the Network Operations team to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Involved in ensuring the application teams understand the impact of network constraints and provide recommendations to ensure successful deployments
Skills & experience
  • Demonstrable experience of network technologies in a global business or similar
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication, both verbal and written, skills
  • English at a near-native level
  • Able to demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of networking concepts
  • Extensive technical skills covering a broad range of network technologies, it is not necessary to be a specialist in any one area
  • A passion for networking and staying abreast of new developments
  • Experience of taking a requirement through analysis, solution design, testing, deployment and hand-over to an operations team for BAU support

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Our client is technology agnostic as they offer their client the best solutions for their situation, so they are happy to look at candidates with experience in Cisco, Juniper etc.
  • Working with users to understand the how they exploit the system or service to meet their business requirement
  • Assurance of system design for compliance
  • Provide Network Coherence across multiple programmes
  • Reviewing / approving HLDs for Strategic Systems programmes, service design, assurance, compliance and coherence tasks
  • Business Case (BC) Development support for new resource requirements
  • Supporting delivery teams through Solution Concept Forum, Solution Design Board, ARB and AGB
  • Solid understanding of routing protocols, quality of service and prioritisation
  • Experience of large scale / Enterprise defence networks
  • Alignment of network designs to the Digital Enablement Network Reference Architecture
