Microsoft Security Lead

Our client requires a Microsoft Security Lead who can help their client understand Cyber Vulnerabilities and threats. Your role will be pivotal to analyse and visualise complex security problems with a view to provide innovative and conceptual solutions.

You will be expected to demonstrate positive and effective communication skills – especially as you will be required to engage with Senior client staff as well as frequently engage with large scale Managed Service Providers who provide IT/IS solutions to Defence.

Your analytical skills will be required to be finely tuned as evidenced in your career to date as this will assist translating extraordinarily challenging technical issues to Stakeholders who are not overly familiar with the technical context of the issue(s) in hand.

Key responsibilities
  • Staffing of Risk Balance Cases, briefing Senior Stakeholders to achieve sign off / endorsement of risk,
  • Complete Risk Assessments & Risk Evaluations. Define and recommend mitigation actions with control enhancements to reduce risk vector to UK MOD,
  • Assess known and emerging vulnerabilities to UK Defence Systems whilst proposing tooling, methods, and processes to eliminate or reduce impact,
  • Map emerging threats to existing UK Defence systems and offer advice and guidance as to how the threat can be treated.
Skills & experience
  • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience of Microsoft Security Suite and its associated products (Enterprise Level 5), (Azure Sentinel, Azure Defender and Microsoft 365 Defender)
  • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience of security designs, architecture patterns and principles,
  • Strong briefing skills – verbally and written – to provide translate challenging topics to a range of Programme Stakeholders,
  • Knowledge of IT/IS Security Environments with and understanding of how protective tooling can be applied to reduce security threats to an acceptable level,
  • Operational Technology (OT) experience including management of data complimented with a finely tuned understanding for protection of the process controls required to be in place,
  • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience of complex delivery within an MOD environment,
  • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience of complex systems integration.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • A broad knowledge of Security Operations,
  • A broad knowledge of security and IT tooling,
  • Ability to identify and quantify Cyber Security Risk.
