Mechanical Design Engineer

You will be able to work from home for the majority of this contract with travel required once per month to either Bristol or Plymouth.

My client is a large defence and engineering consultancy who provide through-life support to the Ministry of Defence and other military clients across the globe.

They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help deliver mechanical services work packages to required scope, quality and cost. You will need to be willing to undergo SC and able to travel to Bristol or Plymouth to be considered for this role.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare and review designs for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
  • Contribute to technical problem-solving and new design development.
  • Assist in reviewing designs and construction methodologies.
  • Manage design work packages, including planning and cost estimation.
  • Support development, construction, and maintenance activities.
Skills & experience
  • Design expertise in mechanical and nuclear process systems, industrial gas systems, mechanical building services, pumping stations, and mechanical ventilation systems.
  • Knowledge of seismic analysis and substantiation of process equipment for nuclear safety functions.
  • Familiarity with relevant engineering software (CAD/CAM, FEA)
  • Experience in supporting construction, operation, and maintenance of conventional and nuclear facilities.
