Low-Level Software Engineer

Due to the nature of the role it is likely that you will need to work onsite most of the time, with the occasional day working from home.

My client is a large defence and engineering consultancy who have a strong reputation in providing the most cutting-edge research and technology to the defence sector.

They are looking for a number of Software Engineers to work from their Gloucestershire office who have experience in low-level languages, Windows, and Linux. You will be working on highly-secure projects so a DV clearance is essential!

Key responsibilities
  • Develop low-level code for system-level applications and hardware interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and debugging of complex issues in existing codebases.
  • Provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards, software development methodologies, and security protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in low-level programming roles, preferably in a security or intelligence environment.
Skills & experience
  • Proficient in low-level programming languages including Windows C++, C, C#, Python, and Linux.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing software at the system and hardware level.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient in problem-solving and project execution.
  • Familiarity with diverse operating systems, particularly Windows and Linux.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and hardware interaction.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
