Lead Systems Engineer

Introduction

Our client is a large consultancy operating in the UK Defence market.

They are looking for a Senior Systems Engineering Consultant to provide expertise on model-based systems engineering for their clients and hold strong modelling skills.

You will be acting as a leader for a small team and work closely with external clients.

Working Patterns: 2-3 days in the office/on site in either Bristol, Manchester, London, Derby, Reading or Hampshire.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide consultancy to client project and engineering managers.
  • Lead the use of best practice techniques and tools on both client and internal projects.
  • Knowledge of MBSE.
  • Developing and implementing strategies.
  • Deliver identified engineering outputs within time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and contribute to growth.

 

Skills & experience
  • Degree qualified (Level 6 or above) in a relevant STEM subject or an equivalent depth of experience in an engineering field. Professionally recognised with an appropriate institution e.g., CEng, CSEP.
  • Experienced in applying MBSE methodologies using tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect and Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Proficient in modelling languages and architectural frameworks including UML, SysML, ArchiMate, TOGAF, and MODAF.
  • In depth knowledge of the engineering lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in integrating sophisticated systems across a range of platforms, both military and civilian.
  • Applied systems engineering practices across the lifecycle in alignment with international standards, such as ISO 15288:2023.
  • Managing projects and teams within different development methods.
