Key responsibilities
  • A lead software engineer is someone who usually oversees a technical team. They lead on Software development and help with an technical issues or finds solutions for a customer.
  • The will be working on the CC1 – A dismounted Situtional Awareness system – this has been developed by our client and their customer.
Skills & experience
  • Software design
  • Java, ideally Kotlin (or willingness to learn)
  • Application development for Android and/or Knox
  • Networking:
  • Configuration and implementation of: IP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, routing tables, firewall rules, and multicast (from both client and server side)
  • Designing and implementing custom network protocols: transport layer and up
  • Problem solving, Reporting & documentation
  • Customer facing roles
  • Requirements management
  • Task triage & prioritisation

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Deep networking knowledge
  • Awareness of routing tables
  • Experience of Military radios
  • Good awareness of Android and an awareness of what is (and is not) possible for modifying the android platform
  • Designing your own network protocols
  • Experience Linux internals
  • Worked on an Agile Scrum Team
  • Experience in how to make platforms secure and awareness of how they can be reverse engineered
