Our client is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead a team of Surveyors across Devon and Cornwall, managing more junior colleagues as well as leading Consultancy engagements across the public sector, primarily Healthcare and Education.
They will consider candidates who are considering a ‘step up’, but you must be Chartered and confident developing business with clients.
Working Patterns – 1-2 days per week in the office + travel across Devon and Cornwall to visit clients.
Key responsibilities
- Take a leadership role within the Quantity Surveyor department for a Consultancy company who is supporting public and private sector engagements.
- Have commercial ownership of commissions and/or projects including governance, fee management activities, together with internal job costings and resource requirements.
- Prepare fee proposals and bid submissions under guidance of senior colleagues.
- Manage the client relationship and service delivery on a project basis.
- Take responsibility for ensuring work is delivered to time and standard.
- Build relationships with clients so that there is repeat and new business.
- Manage and monitor colleagues, including undertaking performance and development reviews and mentoring/coaching.
Skills & experience
- Experience within a similar Quantity Surveyor position, ideally within a Consultancy.
- RICS or similar.
- Thorough understanding of construction forms and techniques including construction costs, and ability to knowledgably advise clients.
- Strong customer management skills, including managing expectations.
- Competent knowledge of a range of procurement options available in the industry.
- Strong JCT and/or NEC contract experience.
- Effective people management skills, including training and mentoring less experienced members of staff.
