Lead Project Controller

Introduction

Our client are working on a new and exciting project for a huge Renewable Energy Programme!

We are on the lookout for an experienced and skilled Project Controller to coordinate and implement project control systems and tools to meet requirement and drive performance.

The ideal candidate must have experience in power or energy projects or worked on large scale infrastructure projects.

This role is mostly remote with occasional travel to London or Birmingham for meetings.

Key responsibilities
  • Owning overall accountability for the delivery of various project control systems in order to meet objectives.
  • Developing and implementing project control procedures.
  • Providing relevant information to assist project teams.
  • Providing continuous improvement opportunities and driving performance to industry standards.
  • Leading project control variables such as cost estimating, cost engineering, planning and scheduling.
  • Providing functional assurance to ensure quality and integrity of work.
  • Measuring performance against cost and schedule.
  • Overseeing and reporting cashflow performance.
  • Monitoring and implementation of project controls to ensure procedures are being followed and corrective action is taken place.
  • Provide assurance on compliance with project controls policies and procedures.
  • Controlling all project control processes for delivery of work.
  • Quality checking all delivered work.
  • Developing Recovery Plans for Scope of Work when required to allow corrective action to take place.
  • Being the key interface for clients.
  • Driving cost performance through accurate and timely use of management information.
  • Creating and supporting a culture change through KPI’s to drive performance and successful outcomes.
Skills & experience
  • Team leader experience demonstrated ability to develop team members.
  • Deep technical experience in all Project Services Disciplines i.e. Cost Estimating, Project Scheduling and Cost Engineering.
  • Extensive experience working in a project portfolio environment.
  • Good understanding of contract terminology.
  • Track record of delivery of strong business results, with complex and competing priorities.
  • Experience in either of the following industries such as: Power & Renewables, HVDC, Energy & Power generation, Offshore cabling, Windfarm is essential.
  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Project Management.
  • Affiliation with a Chartered body or a recognised Project Management Institution.
