Junior Software Developer

This is an entry level role. The client will consider candidates fresh out of university who hold a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Degree or similar and who have some knowledge of the skills required and a keen interest in Software Engineering. Also, Candidates who have some experience within Software Engineering and are looking to break into a prestigious role are encouraged to apply.

For this role you will have to be eligible and wanting to achieve DV clearance. Due to the nature of the role and the projects you will be working on this will be required. Please make yourself aware of the vetting process before applying. The client will put successful candidates through the vetting process to achieve clearance. Typically, this process will take between 4-8 months but can be quicker. The client will allow successful candidates to start before they achieve their clearance as they will work on other projects and training.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our client’s software delivery teams, working alongside their customers and partners to work on key customer services.

The projects covers a wide range of skills, technologies and platforms, touching bespoke product development, data processing, analysis and visualisation. They cover a wide range of skills including:

  • UI/UX frontend developers working with our customers to develop bespoke tools
  • C++ developers working on low level, highly performant code
  • DevOps engineers managing development estate, system monitoring and automating deployments

They have a range of roles that include frontend development, low level / backend development which involves defensive programming, implementing high performance and highly resilient applications working closely with their customers to develop new capabilities for their end users. You will have experience working as part of a development team and follow agile software engineering best practices.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform a broad range of complex technical or professional work activities in an Agile team
  • Responsible for software development and software testing
  • Communicate with the customers, gather their requirements and obtain feedback
  • Responsible for upskilling the less experienced members of the team
  • Provide useful input in meetings and challenges the team with new ideas
  • Be a problem solver, enabling data insight to solve our real-world technical problems in an agile environment
  • Plan your own work to meet given objectives and processes
  • Have some responsibility for reviewing the work of others


Skills & experience

Technical skills to include one or more of the following:

  • UX design experience
  • Experience in developing front ends with: React, JavaScript, NodeJS
  • MEAN stack
  • Java 11 and Spring for backend development
  • MySQL
  • C, C++, Python / C#
  • Deep understanding of platforms such as Windows, Linux, Android and iOS Elastic, Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, git CI / CD pipelines with Jenkins
  • Automated testing experience with Cyprus or Selenium
