Junior Quantity Surveyor

Introduction

Our leading Consultancy client has opportunities for Commercial Managers/Quantity Surveyors with 2-5 years’ experience to support the work they do with clients in the Defence and Nuclear Industry.

 

The ideal candidate will work on complex Infrastructure/Civil Engineering projects and experience within Complex National Infrastructure (ideally Defence) would be ideal

 

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week at your base location of Plymouth, Hampshire, Glasgow, Derby, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol or London. Travel to other sites across the UK will be required.

Key responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Ministry of Defence and other Government bodies to deliver complex major Infrastructure programmes.
  • Draft and negotiate main contracts throughout the lifecycle of project development and execution.
  • Work alongside the project management team to ensure a successful project delivery, balancing risk with solutions that are commercially and contractually viable.
  • Provide an overview of critical milestones, assessing and managing in line with contractual obligations.
  • Direct and process change, compensation event/variations on the project.
  • Provide interpretation of contracts and monitor the delivery of contractual obligations.
  • Manage the commercial relationship and communication with contractors during the delivery stage of the project.
  • Drive governance processes and required presentation material towards different stakeholders.
  • Contribute to further developing processes regarding contract and claims management.
  • Participate or host informal and formal training sessions with teams and practices.
  • Assist with the audit and cost verification activities.
Skills & experience
  • NEC or Framework Contract experience within Defence or Critical National Infrastructure is desirable.
  • Consultancy experience would be a bonus.
  • Degree qualified and CIPS, RICS, CABE or CIOB qualified (or working towards).
  • Understanding of public sector strategic commercial and procurement policies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi disciplined programme team environment with multiple suppliers.
