Junior Infrastructure Engineer

Introduction

This role offers some working from home but it is likely you will need to be onsite at least 3-4 days of the week. The rest of the work can be done from home.

My client is a well-established supplier of software solutions with a heavy focus on sensitive applications. These software solutions are primarily created for the MOD and other government clients.

They are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to take responsibility for the build, installation and support of IT systems.

Key responsibilities
  • Build, install and support of IT systems (on site and/or off site at the customers locations).
  • Assist with implementing and supporting projects for our customers.
  • Installation and commissioning of systems based on Windows and Ubuntu Server, and Virtualisation platforms.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to users with IT related issues.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to the processes and standards.
  • Take ownership of projects and issues to completion.
  • Assist in generation of documentation for the systems along with knowledge base help documentation.

 

Skills & experience
  • Implementation and support of Active Directory, Patch Management, Microsoft Updates, Antivirus, Vulnerability Management, Backup Solutions.
  • Knowledge of M365, including licensing and user management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of network design principles and network protocols.
  • Experience in Cloud Services including Cloud Telephony.
  • Applying security requirements to Infrastructure, as required.
  • Should have strong interpersonal skills, be a good team player and excellent communication skills.
