Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity for junior candidates to join a defence client who are prominent in the defence sector, working on exciting and cutting edge projects. This client also offers incredible potential for growth and development.

 

Our client works within Defence, Government, Critical National Infrastructure and Aerospace and are looking for a Commercial Manager to provide advice on and analysis of commercial risks in the business, commercial sales and procurement guidance.

 

The role is varied and includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of contract paperwork and leading commercial governance process for bids, tenders and sales contracts.

 

This is a hybrid role with 1-2 days per week onsite per week.

Key responsibilities
  • Reviewing and approving call-off contracts under a wide variety of framework types.
  • Support the team with a wide range of commercial tasks within the Defence, Critical National Infrastructure or National Security division.
  • Review, negotiate and draft a range of agreements including prime and subcontracts, NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements and back-to-back subcontracts.
  • Lead the commercial governance process for bids and tenders.
  • Analyse and negotiate contract terms and conditions.
  • Analyse and agree NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, JVs.
  • Review and approve proposals, prime and sub-contracts, ensuring adherence to company governance requirements and procedures.
  • Provide commercial support to bid teams, including supporting the development of bids and tenders.
  • Provide commercial support throughout contract delivery.
Skills & experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ commercial experience supporting either consulting/service contracts within Defence, Aerospace or Government.
  • Experience negotiating sales/bid commercial contracts is preferred.
  • A Law Degree would be ideal, otherwise a strong legal understanding is required.
  • Detail focused with a passion for contracts and the ability to analyse, interpret and draft contractual wording.
  • Experience of negotiating complex contracts such as NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, sub and prime contracts.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to prioritise deadlines efficiently.
