Junior C Software Engineer

Introduction

This is a hybrid role with approximately 3 days per week onsite per week. The rest of the work can be done from home.

My client is looking for Embedded Software Engineers to join their growing team and contribute to designing, testing, and debugging complex software solutions.

They work in partnerships with UK government customers and commercial providers to deliver research, technology, products, solutions, and services in the communications security sector.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and implementation of robust embedded and user-facing software applications in line with the technical competencies listed below.
  • Development/modification of board support packages and drivers for hardware devices, filesystems, etc.
  • Evaluating latest technologies (e.g. hardware processors, languages, operating systems).
  • Investigation of emerging frameworks, libraries, build tools etc.
  • Task breakdown, sizing, progress reporting.
  • Development/contribution to technical proposals.
  • Involvement in Agile Scrum ceremonies and design sessions.
Skills & experience
  • Experience using Real-time C or Rust.
  • Python or Bash is desirable.
  • Web based application development using modern frameworks/tools.
  • User interface design –g. python/WxPython/QT.
  • Unit and system testing frameworks (e.g. Google Test, Unity, Robot, OpenHTF, etc).
  • Build systems (yocto/buildroot, GNU Make, CMake etc).
  • Network communications protocols (TCP/IP, ARP, etc).
  • Network analysis and debugging tools (e.g. WireShark, TCPDump).
  • Design capture (UML, etc).
  • Source control (including workflows - Git).
