Introduction

The company is a UK-based engineering consultancy that delivers advanced research, technology solutions, and independent technical advice to government and industry clients, helping them solve complex security and engineering challenges. Within this environment, the IA Manager works as part of a risk and assurance team, providing expert security guidance, conducting risk assessments on complex systems, and supporting stakeholders in making informed security decisions. The role focuses on producing high-quality security documentation, aligning with established frameworks, and acting as a trusted liaison between technical teams and client authorities to ensure risks are understood, managed, and communicated effectively.

 

Working Patterns and location – This role is based full time on site.

Key responsibilities
  • Serve as the main point of contact for information security and risk management, overseeing security across systems and services.
  • Maintain governance and accountability by managing risk frameworks, policies, and assurance processes throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Keep stakeholders informed by clearly communicating security risks, issues, and progress, and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Lead risk discussions with technical teams to identify issues and agree practical mitigation and action plans.
  • Ensure accurate security documentation, policy compliance, and effective knowledge transfer to support continuity and ongoing assurance.
Skills & experience
  • Holds a recognised information security qualification such as CISM, CISSP, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven background working in information assurance or related security roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Desirable (not mandatory):

  • Familiarity with the Authority’s security frameworks (SPF).
  • Experience working with Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Understanding of Agile delivery methods and environments.
