Finance Business Partner

Introduction

The Finance Business Partner is responsible for managing and interpreting the financial aspects related to staffing within the Secure Government division. This role involves close collaboration with Practice Managers, Operations teams, and the wider finance function to maintain strong and effective accounting processes. The position reports directly to the Practice Finance Business Partner.

 

Working Patterns: 3 Days on site in the Bristol office. Travel to others sites as required.

Key responsibilities
  • Prior experience in business partnering is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the client’s finance processes, standards, and systems—particularly Oracle—would be an advantage.
  • The position is based in the Bristol office for three days a week, with occasional travel to other UK locations.
  • Collaborate closely with Practice Managers to monitor and improve practice performance, including productivity, booking volumes, and returns. Act as a key point of contact for practice staff and promote best practice across teams.
  • Review and validate overhead bookings, ensuring accuracy, and manage accruals and prepayments as necessary.
  • Support the month-end management accounting process by performing account reviews, adjustments, and reconciliations. Provide insightful analysis and commentary on performance versus budget and forecast.
  • Develop technical accounting expertise and gain Secure Government business knowledge through formal training and hands-on experience.
Skills & experience
  • A part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Solid technical understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in IT systems with advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and macros.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, with confidence in engaging with colleagues across all levels, both within and outside the finance function.
  • Contribute to the wider finance team by supporting budget model development, assisting with internal and external audits, and participating in ad hoc projects.
  • A strong team player with a collaborative working style.
  • Able to meet deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
