Introduction
Our client imports and exports goods for the Defence and Aerospace industry and are looking for a specialist to be responsible for providing guidance to the business on export and import activities.
The successful candidate will assist in the management of all aspects of UK and US export/import regulatory requirements as they relate to the company’s day-to-day shipping activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good knowledge of ITAR regulations and experience in a highly-regulated Defence/Aerospace/Engineering environment.
Working Pattern: Remote with travel to Essex or Fife in the first few weeks for training purposes.
Key responsibilities
- Generate all essential shipping and customs documentation to ensure compliance with UK export/import regulations.
- Ensure compliance with US and other countries export/import regulations.
- Act as point of contact for the business on all export/import shipping transactions.
- Undertake import checks for licensing approvals, customs requirements ensuring correct cost prices, commodity codes, delivery and payment terms are being used.
- Provide import clearance instructions to freight providers.
- Undertake UK Export License Applications.
- Management and maintenance of all other document required to support the export of controlled goods.
- Prepare export and import paperwork for shipments.
- Handle and analyse customs declaration.
- Arrange transport arrangements by sea, air and road.
Skills & experience
- Extensive knowledge of UK Export Licensing Regulations and shipping procedures.
- Awareness of TAR regulations and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Working knowledge or experience in shipping against Open General Export Licences (OGELs) and Standard Individual Export Licences (SIELs).
- Working knowledge or understanding of the UK Customs Import and Export systems and export licensing systems.
- Working knowledge of commodity coding and tariff classification.
- Working knowledge of duty deferment processes and procedures.
