Introduction

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.

Our client is a large engineering consultancy looking for an Electrical & Controls Engineer to work end-to-end on control systems solutions that meet safety requirements for their clients in various sectors including Nuclear Power and Defence.

You will need experience working across the lifecycle for EC&I safety systems, including design and testing, and experience with systems such as PLC, HMIs, and SCADA.

Key responsibilities
  • Creating cost-effective engineering design solutions.
  • Ensuring high-quality delivery that meets customer requirements to time, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Working end-to-end on EC&I systems, including safety, design, testing and installation.
  • Engaging with clients to understand technical needs.
  • Verifying EC&I technical documentation, including for junior engineers.
  • Assisting with technical input for proposals/tenders.
Skills & experience
  • Experience working on a broad range of electrical control systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical control equipment and how it’s used in automated and safety related systems.
  • Good knowledge of process systems and how to control them.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and safety sector standards including BS EN 61508.
  • A good understanding of the safety lifecycle for EC&I safety systems.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Skilled in designing and ensuring safety of software-based systems.
  • Proficient in PLC programming, system integration, and software testing.
  • Knowledgeable about low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Experienced in AutoCAD.
  • Recognised as a chartered engineer or equivalent.
