Defence Quantity Surveyor
Introduction
Our leading Consultancy client has opportunities for Commercial Managers/Quantity Surveyors at all levels to support the work they do with clients in the Defence and Nuclear Industry.
The ideal candidate will work on multi-million-pound complex Infrastructure/Civil Engineering projects, so experience within Complex National Infrastructure (ideally Defence) is essential.
This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week on site.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Ministry of Defence and other Government bodies to deliver complex major Infrastructure programmes.
- Draft and negotiate main contracts throughout the lifecycle of project development and execution.
- Work alongside the project management team to ensure a successful project delivery.
- Provide an overview of critical milestones, assessing and managing in line with contractual obligations.
- Provide interpretation of contracts and monitor the delivery of contractual obligations.
- Manage the commercial relationship and communication with contractors during the delivery stage of the project.
- Drive governance processes and required presentation material towards different stakeholders.
Skills & experience
- Minimum of 2 years within a Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveyor role.
- NEC or Framework Contract experience within Defence or Critical National Infrastructure.
- Consultancy experience would be a bonus.
- Degree qualified and CIPS, RICS, CABE or CIOB qualified (or working towards).
- Understanding of public sector strategic commercial and procurement policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi disciplined programme team environment with multiple suppliers.
- Proven track record in large-scale projects and leading teams where appropriate.
- Experience in working in a joint ventures/alliance environment is desirable.
