Defence Planner
Our client is working on a number of critical Defence and Nuclear projects, and they are looking for Planners with experience in P6 to join the team!
You will need experience in Defence and Infrastructure/Construction projects, and consultancy experience would be a benefit!
Working Patterns – Minimum of 3 days per week on site
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain a baseline schedule identifying critical path, resources, work breakdown structure and milestones.
- Participate and chair interactive planning workshops ensuring comprehensive schedules are developed.
- Ensure all activities are logic linked and aligned with the project deliverables, project execution plan and contracting strategy.
- Update the schedule progress in accordance with processes and procedures validating the work completed.
- Identify and explain variances between current schedule, plan, earned value and forecasts and communicate these clearly to the project team.
- These will include key performance indicators such as Earned Value, Schedule Performance Index, Cost Performance Index.
- Work alongside the cost controller to identify key variances between the schedule and the costs.
- Work with the project team to identify resources and man hours required to complete the project activities.
- Provide detailed analysis of contractors’ programmes.
- Collaborate with project delivery teams, specialist client directorates and external stakeholders.
Skills & experience
- A track record of achievement in planning within large-scale defence or nuclear projects.
- Experience in leading teams of professionals in a complex business environment.
- Construction project planning expertise gained across a range of large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects, with a sound understanding of project management principles and applications.
- An understanding of commercial elements within large, complex projects and a track record of achievement in driving value.
- A good understanding of programme contractual requirements, including NEC clauses. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Primavera P6 experience is essential.
