Defence Client Manager

Introduction

Our client provides solutions to complex engineering problems within Defence, and they are looking for a Business Development Manager to support them within the Land domain!

They work very closely with MOD departments such as DE&S and are looking for someone who will spend their time working with clients to identify opportunities and create client focused, value generating solutions.

Land Defence experience is essential, and experience of solution sales is required.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.

Key responsibilities
  • Engage clients and competitors, strategic partners and supply chains to drive forward successful solutions.
  • Be responsible for the business performance of your portfolio, including meeting the expectations for growth.
  • Developing a deep understanding of clients’ needs and their business drivers.
  • Work with technical teams to develop solutions based on client requirements.
  • Execute a client focused account strategy that supports the achievement of the broader defence strategy.
  • Communicate the account strategy to the wider organisation to address their challenges and opportunities.
  • Promote client’s strategies, growth initiatives, pipeline, major opportunities and key client engagements.
  • Horizon scanning to understand current and future trends.
  • Demonstrate and exemplify the company’s culture and behaviours.
  • Foster collaboration across the matrix organisation, adopting an inclusive and collaborative approach.
Skills & experience
  • Excellent business development experience within Defence, with some experience of Land/DE&S.
  • Outstanding consulting skills, including structured thinking, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing solutions to solve client’s complex engineering problems.
  • A desire to work with clients and delivery teams to develop creative solutions to key challenges.
  • Strong collaborative skills and behaviours.
  • Proven relationship building and influencing skills.

A pro-active decision maker with a confident yet diplomatic operating style.
