Our client is looking for someone who possesses an ability to consider a wide range of potential solutions to complex and exciting problems and to conduct the analysis required to advise our customers. As a Decision Support Analyst, you will work closely alongside our Defence clients to ensure that innovative and effective evidence-based solutions are developed for the UK armed forces.

What will your role look like?

You will have a key role in gathering high quality evidence to support decision making within defence. This could range from quantitative modelling through to qualitative research, including facilitated workshops with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts.

Key responsibilities
  • Solving a variety of 'hands on' technical challenges, using a range of analytical techniques.
  • Working autonomously, or with teammates, to deliver consultancy and analytical projects to enable better, evidence-based decision-making.
  • Presenting your analysis to customers and contributing to the writing of customer and technical reports.
  • Building client relationships and supporting bidding activities to win new business.

Skills & experience
  • A minimum of 2:1 bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM related subject or equivalent experience in an analytical role.
  • A proven track record in developing and maintaining stakeholder and customer relationships, both internal and external.
  • A proven ability to break down complex problems into a clear structure and formulate specific questions that can be tackled through the analysis of available data (quantitative or qualitative) and modelling.
  • A proven ability to conduct robust analysis and to explain insights and conclusions to non-technical partners and customers in a clear and concise manner.
  • A proven ability to understand the limitations or uncertainties in your analysis and to clearly explain the implications.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to summarise, write and technical documents and deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge and previous use of analytical techniques, including one or more of the following:

Modelling and simulation including the exploration of “what-if?” scenarios.

  • Benefits analysis.
  • Morphological analysis.
  • Problem structuring.
  • Historical analysis.
  • Data analysis and visualisation.
  • Facilitation of workshops.
  • Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA).

The following skills and experience are desirable:

  • Having some knowledge of the UK Armed Forces.
